Ghana has renewed its appeal to global mining investors, with the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, outlining government’s vision to position the country as Africa’s leading mining destination.

The Minister made the remarks on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, at an Exclusive Investors’ Forum held at the Penn Club of New York and hosted by Newcore Gold Ltd.

He was accompanied by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith.

Addressing a gathering of global mining investors, the Minister presented what he described as President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda,” aimed at transforming Ghana’s extractive sector and strengthening its role in the global critical minerals market.

He said the strategy is designed to position Ghana as a major hub for lithium, bauxite, iron ore and other strategic minerals needed for the global energy transition.

The Minister outlined investment opportunities across the mining value chain, including large-scale extraction, refining, engineering services and downstream processing.

He urged investors to take advantage of Ghana’s improving investment climate, stressing the government’s commitment to ethical, responsible and forward-looking mining partnerships.

According to him, Ghana is actively diversifying its economy and remains open to strategic investors who are willing to contribute to sustainable resource development.

He added that the country is positioning itself not only as a raw mineral exporter but also as a value-added processing and industrial mining hub.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by government to attract foreign direct investment into the mining sector while ensuring greater local participation and long-term economic benefits.

Ghana, he stated, is “ready for the future” and determined to leverage its mineral wealth to drive industrialisation and economic transformation.
