Bel-Aqua has donated GHC120,000 to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to support activities marking this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World Drug Day.

The contribution underscores the company’s commitment to promoting public health and supporting national efforts to combat drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Ghana.

The Narcotics Control Commission expressed profound gratitude to Bel-Aqua for the financial support, describing the donation as a significant boost to its public education and advocacy campaigns.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to Bel-Aqua for the generous donation of GHC120,000 in support of this year’s World Drug Day,” the Commission said in a statement.

According to the Commission, the donation will strengthen ongoing efforts to create awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, particularly among young people, while supporting initiatives aimed at preventing the proliferation of illicit drugs across the country.

“The remarkable contribution strengthens the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Ghana,” the statement added.

The Commission further commended Bel-Aqua for partnering with the state in promoting safer and healthier communities, noting that the fight against narcotic drugs requires collective action from both the public and private sectors.

World Drug Day, observed annually on 26 June, serves as a global platform to raise awareness about the major challenges posed by illicit drugs while encouraging governments, institutions and corporate organisations to collaborate in addressing substance abuse and drug trafficking.

The Narcotics Control Commission reiterated its commitment to intensifying education, prevention and enforcement activities and called on more corporate institutions to support the national campaign against drug abuse.
