Lagos State Government welcomed a 16-year-old child with autism on Wednesday.

The child's name is Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke.

He arrived in Lagos during his cycling journey of endurance.

He comes from Enugu State.

His parents, Kanyeyachukwu Autism Foundation members, cycling officials, and a medical support team are with him.

Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, received him.

The commissioner completed the journey from Enugu to Anambra, then to Lagos.

Ogunlende said: 'This visit is important and a symbol showing many things.'

He praised the child's courage and determination.

Ogunlende also commended Kanyeyachukwu's resilience and his parents' strong love for him.

He described the journey as a big statement for inclusion and disability awareness.

Kanyeyachukwu thanked the Lagos State Government for the warm welcome.

He said it was compassionate and he really appreciates it.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will formally receive the team at the State House on Thursday.

Many weeks of activities happen for World Autism Awareness Day.

This day is celebrated worldwide on April 2 under the United Nations framework.

This day promotes acceptance, inclusion, and appreciation of people with autism.

It also shows what they contribute to social, educational, and economic aspects of the world.
