Ghanaian youngster Mark Kagawa on trial at Swedish club AIK

Ghana youth international Mark Kagawa Mensah has arrived in Sweden for a trial with Allsvenskan side AIK, as the 17-year-old attacking midfielder looks to take the next major step in his promising career.

The Black Starlets playmaker was spotted training with AIK's first team this week, with the Swedish club evaluating the youngster's potential ahead of a possible move. According to reports, Kagawa, born in 2009, is currently on a trial period at the Stockholm-based club.

Kagawa has been a standout performer for Ghana's U17 national team, playing a key role in the team's qualification for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

He is known for his creativity, vision, and ability to dictate the tempo of matches from midfield.

The talented teenager has previously been on the books of Attram de Visser Soccer Academy in Ghana and has represented his country at various youth levels. His performances have drawn interest from European clubs, with AIK now offering him an opportunity to impress in Scandinavia.

AIK, one of Sweden's most successful clubs, has a history of developing young talents and providing a pathway to top European leagues. A successful trial could see Kagawa become the latest Ghanaian prospect to make the move to Europe.

The Black Starlets are currently preparing for the U17 AFCON in Morocco, where they will be aiming to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Kagawa will be hoping his club future is resolved in time to focus fully on the continental tournament.
