The Ghana High Commission in Pretoria has issued an urgent public advisory to Ghanaians living in South Africa, urging them to exercise heightened caution and prioritise their safety ahead of planned protest activities expected on 30 June 2026.

The advisory follows a deadline reportedly issued by a group identified as “March and March” and its affiliated organisations, with authorities warning of possible demonstrations and disruptions in parts of the country.

In a statement released on Monday, 29 June 2026, the High Commission advised Ghanaian nationals to avoid areas likely to be affected by protests, particularly central business districts, transport hubs, informal trading centres and other locations where demonstrations may occur.

The Mission further encouraged members of the Ghanaian community to remain indoors as much as possible and, where necessary, temporarily close their businesses to safeguard their lives and property.

It also cautioned Ghanaians against engaging in confrontations or participating in provocative discussions, including on social media platforms, as tensions could escalate during the period.

The High Commission urged all Ghanaian nationals to ensure that their passports, residence permits and other identification documents are readily available at all times.

To support citizens who may require assistance, the Mission announced that emergency telephone lines would remain operational throughout the period for reporting incidents or seeking help.

The High Commission also appealed to Ghanaians to remain calm, law-abiding and security conscious while fully cooperating with South African security agencies and other local authorities.

It further advised the community to rely only on information from credible official sources and to refrain from sharing unverified reports or rumours that could create unnecessary panic.

According to the Mission, it will continue to monitor developments closely and provide further updates where necessary.

The High Commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare and safety of all Ghanaian nationals living in South Africa.
