Manchester City kept their season alive on multiple fronts after booking a place in the FA Cup final, while Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table in a tense weekend of action.

At Wembley, City booked a record fourth straight FA Cup final place after coming from behind to beat Southampton 2–1 in a dramatic semi-final. The Championship side threatened an upset when Finn Azaz fired them ahead late in the game, but City’s quality eventually told.

Jeremy Doku restored parity before Nico Gonzalez struck a superb late winner to complete the comeback and keep Pep Guardiola’s side firmly in the hunt for a domestic treble. The result means City remain alive in both the league and the cup, with another final now on the horizon.

In the Premier League, Arsenal responded well to last week’s setback by beating Newcastle United 1–0 at the Emirates Stadium.

A fine early strike from Eberechi Eze proved enough for Mikel Arteta’s men to return to the top of the table, moving three points clear of City, although the champions still have a game in hand.

The title race remains delicately poised, with every point now carrying huge weight heading into the final weeks of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Liverpool F.C. strengthened their push for a top-four finish with a 3–1 victory over Crystal Palace, while Fulham F.C. edged Aston Villa 1–0 at Craven Cottage.

Nigeria internationals Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze featured in Fulham’s narrow win, which boosts their hopes of securing European football next season.

At the other end of the table, Tottenham Hotspur’s 1–0 win over Wolves was not enough to lift them out of the relegation zone after West Ham’s late 2–1 victory over Everton.

With the FA Cup final set and the Premier League title race still wide open, the closing weeks of the English season promise even more drama.
